Milk producers have been helped to become more productive and efficient over the years by the tools and practices produced by animal and agronomic research. However, it is not wise to assume that directly transferring research results to practice in the real world automatically leads to positive results. Potential benefits of research in areas like increased milk production, improved health, higher crop yields and better fibre digestibility should be evaluated in relation to an analysis of the whole farm. For an overview of some of the factors that come into play when determining how much a farm may benefit from a new product or management practice based on research results, click HERE.
