UNPROCESSED MILK PRODUCTION for February 2021

MPO FLASH 1/19 March 2021

Unprocessed milk production for February 2021 is estimated at 232 million litres, −8,76% less than in February 2020. Cumulative unprocessed milk production for 2021 (inclusive of February) was 507 million litres, which indicates a negative growth of −6,69% for the first two months of 2021, as compared with the same period of 2020 (source: Milk SA’s; the two months of 2021 are preliminary).

The year 2020 was a leap year. Adjusting February 2020 to 28 days, changes the cumulative negative growth for the first two months of 2021 from −6,69% to −5,16% as compared with the same period of 2020.

Nevertheless, the actual volume supplied for the first two months of 2021, is almost 7% less when compared to the same period in 2020.
