TLU SA wishes crop farmers a blessed planting season

TLU SA would like to wish the country’s crop farmers a blessed planting season.

The agricultural industry can look back with pride at the contribution it has made during a challenging year. Commercial farmers played an essential and stabilising role in the country. Irrational lockdown measures have had a significant impact on the production, processing, and delivery of products, but farmers continued to supply the country’s food needs.

“The new planting season started, but apart from the challenge that holds in itself, farmers also have to deal with uncertainty regarding land ownership, fraud, theft and regular attacks on farms,” says Mr Henry Geldenhuys, the president of TLU SA. “The mismanagement of the Land Bank led to several bailouts from the government, yet it is still not in a position to support the institutions supplying financial aid to farmers. Planting is already well on its way, but some farmers are still waiting on much-needed financial aid.”

TLU SA always tries to rectify these problems, working with other role-players in the agricultural sector to seek solutions. The positive outlook when planning for the future plays a vital role in TLU SA’s decision making. We will continue to build on that.

“Our wishes are that farmers will experience a blessed new planting season”, says Mr Geldenhuys. “And that our creation-mission will be borne in mind.”

“A word of thanks to our farmers who always step in where the government fails. Farmers and farmworkers are the country’s biggest assets.”
