MPO KwaZulu-Natal’s 76th annual general meeting and congress at St. Ives, Howick, on 28 August 2014, was a huge success. Mr Thandokwakhe Sibiya from the Canegrowers Association enlightened delegates on how the association has handled land reform issues in the sugar industry. MPO chairman Mr Tom Turner gave an overview of the market forces affecting the dairy industry and emphasised that dairy farmers must play a role in correcting the imbalance in the value chain. Plans to reschedule the MPO roadshow to May in 2015 to enable more farmers to attend were also announced. Messrs Edsel Hohls (president), Tigger Bryden (vice-president), Tom Turner (national chairman and third director), and Colin Wellbeloved (alternative director), were elected to serve on MPO KZN’s executive committee. The MPO congratulates them on their election.
