Successful KZN route meetings

MPO KZN held seven successful route meetings throughout the region from 18 to 21 May 2015. Several sponsorships made the meetings possible thanks to platinum sponsor Nampak and gold sponsor Monsanto. New MPO CEO Dr Chris van Dijk was introduced to KZN milk producers and Bertus van Heerden explained the role of Agri Inspec in monitoring dairy imports, legal and illegal. Paul Laubscher of Elanco gave an interesting and entertaining presentation on fly control. Steve Elliot of Denvet presented a new milking concept that helps to clean and dry the teats before and after milking, and helps with milk let down when first used. Dr Koos Coetzee gave a run-down of local and international economic trends, including imports and exports. Philip Swart encouraged producers to attend the SA Large herds Conference in Port Elizabeth from 1 to 3 June 2015. Elections were held in all the regions and management members appointed. Edsel Hohls was re-elected as MPO KZN president and Tigger Bryden as vice-president. The MPO congratulates them on their election.
