Successful engagement on Water Act

The interactive workshop on the registration and authorisation of water users presented to dairy farmers by the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS), in cooperation with the MPO Eastern Cape, this week was successful and well attended. The DWS informed dairy farmers about their obligations in terms of the Water Act and explained in a user-friendly, step-by-step manner how to become registered and authorised water users for different purposes. The DWS undertook to assist dairy farmers throughout the process. The MPO views the DWS workshops as the first step in creating awareness about the requirements of sustainable water management. The MPO urges dairy farmers in the Eastern Cape to attend the next workshop, scheduled for 26 Nov 2015 at 10:00 at Python Park in East London.

For more information, contact Zandile Maqwazima at the DWS at 082 908 2992 or e-mail at maqwazimaz@dws.gov.za, or phone Lourens Gildenhuys at 082 619 7811 or e-mail him at oudeboschdairy@gmail.com.

Lourens Gildenhuys spoke to Lise Roberts of RSG Landbou about the workshops and why it is important for dairy farmers to attend. To listen to the interview, click HERE.
