Slow-down in local milk production

A slowdown in milk production growth is highly likely in the coming spring. Milk production during the first half of 2015 is 10,6% more than during the first half of 2015. June 2015 production is 9,0% higher than in June 2014. Factors that can limit production growth in the rest of the year are:

  • lower producer prices from July/August 2015
  • higher grain and feed prices
  • possible increase in other input prices.

In 2014, production increased marginally in the first half and accelerated in the last quarter. Base effects will therefore also result in a decrease in production growth.
