At the latest Global Dairy Trade (GDT) internet auction held on 1 December prices were on average 3,6% higher than at the previous sale in mid-November. Butter prices increased by 5,7%, full cream milk powder by 5,3%, skimmed milk powder by 3,2% while Cheddar prices decreased by 1,5%. The GDT trade-weighted index is currently at 717, 40% higher than the lowest level in August 2015. Milk production growth in major exporting countries is slower than expected and will in future put pressure on global prices. The next GDT sale will be held on 15 December.
