Prices of dairy products at the 15 September GlobalDairyTrade (GDT) Internet auction increased by 16,5% from the previous sale on 5 September, the third consecutive increase since middle August 2015. Fonterra announced this week that they will not be able to supply the quantity of dairy products previously estimated for sale at the GDT auctions. In addition, milk production growth has slowed down in leading export countries. Cornell agricultural economist Prof Andy Novakovic believes the worst is over and that markets will improve in future: “It is premature to confidently conclude that happy days are just around the corner, but I think it is safe to say that the preponderance of market opinion is that the worst is over.” To read more, click HERE.
