According to Tetra Pak, school milk programmes continue to serve as a “catalyst” for milk and dairy market growth in developing countries. Tetra Pak Food for Development Office director general Ms Ulla Holm said a new “generation of milk drinkers” has emerged in many developing markets because of school milk programmes. According to Ms Holm, “If children start drinking milk in school they are going to drink it after school too. For example, in Kenya, even when the school milk programme ended in 1998, we could see a generation of milk drinkers had developed. We see this over and again.
