The Society of Dairy Technology (SASDT) handed out meritorious awards during their gala dinner which was held at Kievitz Kroon on Wednesday, 10 May. The 2016 award to the outstanding postgraduate student who excelled in dairy science as part of his/her curriculum went to Victor Ntuli of the University of Pretoria for his research article entitled “Characterisation of Escherichia coli and other Enterobacteriaceae in producer-distributor bulk milk”. SASDT merit awards were handed to Stephan Steyn who had served the SASDT as its national president for the past five years and to Charl du Plessis, who had been actively involved with the dairy industry in South Africa for over 30 years and has vast experience in processing.
