The director general of agriculture informed the SA Feedlot Association that the revised import requirements for livestock originating in Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland and Botswana had been suspended following the association’s objections. The revised import requirements were implemented on 30 April 2014 and have been suspended with immediate effect from 26 August 2014. It is the view of the minister that insufficient inclusive consultation took place in this regard. The director of animal health will soon request comments on the revised import requirements via the Government Gazette
