Possible solution for Free State farmers

Milk producers in the Free State are deeply concerned about Montic’s notice that they will stop milk purchases by end September this year. Desmanda Transport has however since presented an offer to take over most producers. This can even take effect as soon as 1 September. Unfortunately, not all producers may benefit. Of the two million litres of milk Montic currently buys per month, about 1,3 million litres will probably have to go somewhere else. Producers are encouraged to ensure that their milk complies to all legal requirements with respect to stall registration, TB certificates, BM certificates and milk quality. Unfortunately, no milk buyer can be expected to buy milk outside the legal framework. Milk collection will be conducted from Heidelberg where possible. The MPO is delighted with the outcome Desmanda Transport has brought to most producers. The milk price Desmanda Transport will offer is still unknown, but the MPO is confident that it will be market related.
