- The founder of Desert Farms, a company launched in the US in January to offer camel milk to the American market, predicts the product to become the next superfood. Camel milk, which has been used for centuries in the Middle East, Asian and North Africa as a natural remedy, is becoming popular with health-conscious consumers and people suffering from food allergies or intolerances. Desert Farms claims that camel milk is 50% lower in fat and saturated fat than cow’s milk and is a natural probiotic that contains calcium, vitamin B₁, protein, potassium and phosphorus. The product is expensive at US$16 for 473 ml of full-cream, pasteurised camel milk, owing to high demand and low production volumes. However, Desert Farms is confident that people will be prepared to pay for the product because of its health benefits. To read more, click HERE.
