During the recent congress of the Livestock Health and Production Group (LHPG) of the South African Veterinary Association (SAVA) in Skukuza in June, it was decided to change the name of the group to the Ruminant Veterinary Association of South Africa (RuVASA). The association will function as a group of the South African Veterinary Association. The focus of the association is to adopt a leadership and guidance role for veterinary issues relating to livestock with a particular emphasis on ruminant populations to ensure food security and safety and to support related enterprises and systems in which owners can derive benefits.
