Irish farmers are the new green leaders of the world, as most of the 18 000 farmers in the country are part of the Origin Green programme. The Irish Food Board launched this programme to support more sustainable farmers, as the goal is to feed an increasing population with access to fewer resources. The goal is for every farmer across the board to lower his or her carbon footprint annually while actively making changes to benefit the local communities they serve.
