Global prices still declining

International dairy prices decreased even further at the latest Fonterra global dairy-trade sale on 15 July 2015. On average, prices decreased by 10,7% compared to the previous sale at the beginning of July. The sharpest decrease was in the price of cheddar (-13,9%) and full-cream milk powder (-13,1%). Product prices decreased on average by 23% in the second quarter of 2015, compared to an increase of 16% in the same period last year. Based on sellers’ average offer and demand, monthly demand has fallen by 29% from the first quarter of this year, while supply decreased by 2%. However, total bids placed in the first round of the sale still exceeded total supply.
