Fonterra Australia unveils private-label milk plant

Fonterra has expanded its site in Cobden by adding an AU$31 million fresh-milk plant to supply Australian retailer Woolworths.

The plant, which was officially opened by Jaala Pulford, the Australian minister for agriculture and regional development, will produce Woolworths Select fresh milk for stores in the country’s state of Victoria for the next number of decades.

Fonterra Australia landed the 10-year contract with Woolworths in Victoria in April 2014, replacing its Australian rival Lion Dairy. Around 115 000 bottles of fresh milk will leave the plant each day for the Woolworths stores across Victoria. The plant will also create 50 new jobs. To read more, click HERE.
