The MPO handed over awards celebrating excellence in the dairy industry at the annual gala dinner on 11 September. Dr Kobus Hendriks, well-known dairy farmer in the Free State, received a special award for his contribution to excellence in the South African dairy industry. The Dairy Mail announced Mr Johan Strydom, MPO North chairman as the magazine’s Newsmaker of the Year 2014. The reward recognised Mr Strydom’s tireless efforts to promote the wellbeing of the industry through, among others, newsworthy farmers’ days and school milk days. Retiring MPO board member Mr Piet Gouws received a certificate in recognition of his dedicated service to the dairy industry and the MPO.
