The department of agriculture, forestry and fisheries sent a reminder to all stakeholders in the dairy industry that almost six months have passes since the publication of the new regulations (Notice No. R 260) relating to dairy and imitation dairy products in the Government Gazette on 27 March 2015. The regulations will become effective on 28 March 2016. All parties involved are urged to ensure that their dairy and imitation dairy products comply with the labelling and compositional requirements of regulation R 260. Those who require assistance must contact their regional DAFF office/inspector or DAFF head office on the list supplied. Click HERE for the list. Should you experience problems in this regard please contact Jompie Burger, managing director of Dairy Standard Agency at 012 665 4250 or e-mail jompie@dairystandard.co.za for assistance.
A detailed article by Jompie on the new regulations appears in the October issue of The Dairy Mail, which should reach you shortly.
