Appeal to complete MPO questionnaire

The MPO is mandated by statutory regulation to conduct a census of milk producers once a year. This is required to identify trends in milk production to enable the MPO to plan for future services. The information provides a clear view of changes in distribution and the size of milk producers and dairy herds. Because of the postal strike, questionnaires were sent via e-mail. Farmers registered with the MPO who do not have internet access, will be contacted per telephone. The questionnaire is also available on the MPO website.

Dr Koos Coetzee, who is in charge of this project, has emphasised that only combined data will be published and that individual farmers’ information will be kept confidential. He requested farmers to complete the questionnaire and mail it back.

Ms Lise Roberts interviewed Dr Coetzee about the survey and how the information is used. To listen to the interview click HERE
