Slight improvement in international prices

At the 15 October global dairy trade sale, prices were on average 1,4% up on the previous sale of 1 October. The price of butter increased by 3,9%, full-cream milk powder by 3,1% and anhydrous milk fat by 7,4%. Skimmed milk powder prices decreased by 3,6% and cheddar by 1%. The continuing Russian ban on EU imports resulted in even lower global prices. This has already resulted in lower producer prices in many countries. Lower producer prices in producing countries have not yet resulted in lower production. However, it may happen soon, resulting in a more balanced global supply/demand situation.
