Booming international demand for milk powder and butterfat has resulted in record-high US producer prices. The March producer price announcement continued the trend of new record-high prices. The majority of US producer prices are based on milk for hard cheese or fat-free powder manufacturing. During January and February 2014, cheese exports were 45% higher than the same period last year, skimmed milk powder exports were 12% higher and butterfat exports 125% higher.
