During July 2015, 8 194 tonnes of dairy were imported into South Africa. This brings total imports for the seven-month period to 54 948 tonnes. In the same period last year, 26 974 tonnes of dairy were imported. Exports during the first seven months equalled 106 140 tonnes, marginally down from 2014. Higher international prices at recent auctions and a weakening rand may limit imports in coming months.
