Wealth of information at World Dairy Summit

The International Dairy Federation’s World Dairy Summit 2015 was officialy opened on Monday, 21 September 2015. The WDS 2015 attracted over 1 200 dairy producers, farmers, scientists, government officials and other sector professionals from more than 50 countries across the globe. The first IDF Dairy Farmers Forum was held on 20 September and focused on three topics: dairy farm risk management, animal welfare and environmental challenges in dairy farming presented by international and Lithuanian experts.

The effect of milk and feed price volatility on different dairy farming systems was the subject of detail discussions. Participants discussed the application of OIE animal welfare standards for dairy cattle through appropriate national legislation and stronger veterinary services. The challenges posed to farmers by effective waste and water management received priority attention during presentations. During the round table discussions that followed the presentations, farmers and other participants exchanged ideas, views and experiences. To read more click HERE.
