The ninth biannual South African Large Herds Conference (SALHC) held at the Boadrwalk Conference Centre in Port Elizabeth last week attracted industry leaders from around the world. More than 420 delegates attended the conference. The aim was to equip farmers with a strategic vision for their farms, based on their individual circumstances. Commercial and emerging farmers and representatives throughout the dairy value chain attended the event. A record number of local and international companies sponsored the conference to market their products. Virtual farm visits where prominent dairy farmers could share practical experiences again proved very popular. Dr Chris van Dijk, MPO chief executive said, “The conference serves as a catalyst to unite the local dairy industry and we are pleased to have been involved in organising such an important event. Producers attending this conference have invested in themselves and now have a competitive advantage over their peers.”
