Slight decrease in international prices

At the GlobalDairyTrade auction on 20 October, dairy prices decreased by 3,1% compared to the previous auction at the beginning of October. This followed significant increases of 9,9%, 16,5%, 10,9% and 14,8% at the last four auctions. Prices are still 58% higher than at the beginning of August.

In major exporting countries, milk production is growing at a slower rate than in 2014. In the first seven months of 2015, EU production increased by 0,8%, compared to the same period last year. New Zealand production grew by 1,2% and US production by 1,7%. This is much lower than growth in 2014. The main reason for the decrease in production growth is the decrease in producer prices since 2014.
