Sage Foundation assists drought-stricken small-scale farmers

The Sage Foundation is working closely with Agri SA to deliver drought relief to small-scale farmers, the local community, and the school at Goedverwacht, a farming village in the Western Cape that has been hard hit by poor rainfall this year.

Various  organisations are providing essential materials to help the community survive South Africa’s worst drought in decades. Sage Foundation volunteers and Agri SA dispatched trucks carrying bales, water and feed pellets to Goedverwacht recently.

Christo van der Rheede, ‎the Deputy Executive Director of Agri SA, said the drought is having a devastating effect on many small farming communities around South Africa, which calls for assistance from the private sector and other interested parties.

Ivan Epstein, Sage International President and Chairman of Sage Foundation, said his organisation is committed to being socially responsible, and they believe in the necessity of supporting the humanitarian crisis caused by the drought in South Africa.

“This project also fits in with our focus of being of service by contributing to and aiding vulnerable communities to achieve a better life.

“We are active in supporting our local communities and invest in making a real difference through the philanthropy of the Sage Foundation.
