Dairy supported by dti

Barbara Bieldt, MPO manager of market protection and development, economist Dr Koos Coetzee and head of Agri Inspec, Bertus van Heerden, met with representatives of Trade and Investment South Africa and Industrial Development Division at the Department of Trade and Industry, to give an overview of the challenges dairy farmers currently face. The meetings were exploratory and focused on future cooperation to ensure the sustainable growth of the industry. The dti has identified the dairy industry as one of the sectors where strategic interventions have to be developed to increase production and competition, and grow exports. The department welcomes the opportunity to establish a good working relationship with the MPO as part of its strategic direction.
