International prices remain high

Prices at the latest Fonterra GlobalDairyTrade auction on 5 January 2016 were 1,6% down from the previous sale. This followed an increase of 5,5% in international dairy product prices in December 2015. The latest price data from the USDA indicates that full cream milk powder, butter, skimmed milk powder and cheese prices increased by 28%, 35%, 43% and 51% respectively, from the lowest level in August 2015. Further weakening of the Rand will result in higher import prices for SA importers.
