Milk production in November 2015 was 0,8% lower than in November 2014. Total production for the first ten months of 2015 is 6,5% more than the same period in 2014. The main reasons for the slowdown in production growth are higher grain and roughage prices, less available silage and hay, stagnant producer prices, drought and very high temperatures. Milk production in the pasture areas did not decrease to the same extent as production in inland areas during November. However, the abnormally high temperatures experienced from mid-December have resulted in a decline in milk production in pasture areas. In some areas, critical shortages of good quality roughage are experienced. The milk:feed ratio declined to 0,95:1 in December 2015.
