Food chain fraud in the dairy industry was the hot topic discussed at a symposium held as part of the ISO/IDF analytical week held recently in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Adulteration is a legal term for a food product that fails to meet federal or state standards. It usually refers to non-compliance with health or safety standards as determined, in the United States, by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
A range of initiatives, from a European food fraud network to the latest developments in analytical technology, was presented, giving an encouraging picture of how the dairy sector is mobilising to take on the complex threat of food adulteration. To read more, click HERE.
