The MPO was approached earlier this year and invited to participate in and organise the Dairy Expo component of the Africa Livestock Trade Fair, which will run from 27 September to 1 October this year at the AfriDome in Parys. The fair is planned to be held there annually.
This will be a really great event and something worth building on in the future. The MPO already has a two-day cheesemaking course in place where people will be taught to make yoghurt, maas, buttermilk, feta, halloumi, cottage cheese, Camembert, Roquefort, Gouda and mozzarella.
In addition, the MPO’s Institute for Dairy Technology will be running a four-day herd managers’ course at the venue. Some practical demos in a specially delineated area are being planned.
Please feel free to contact Julie McLachlan at 012 843 5638 or julie@mpo.co.za should you have any queries or wish to participate in the Expo either by attending one of the courses, or by exhibiting.
